Archery is a target sport requiring skill, precision, and a steady hand

A great confidence booster for young and older people, especially when they hit the target for the first time.

This activity is a great opportunity for people to develop dexterity, control and precision. Our flexible target ranges are geared to each age group, and our GNAS trained Instructors concentrate on developing technique. Students use bows and arrows to match their individual strength, size and age.

GoWild Outdoors is able to offer real archery sessions both indoors and outdoors and we have a range of equipment enabling us to run sessions for all ages from aged 8 to adult!

For those under 8 we are able to offer “soft archery”, although real archery may be possible with those aged 6+ in some circumstances.

All archery sessions are led by an Archery GB Qualified Instructor, using recurve bows and sessions can be offered for up to 12 participants at a time.

Soft Archery

Put simply Soft Archery is a safe way to introduce anyone of any age to experience archery, where conventional archery equipment can’t be used or as an introduction to archery.

Our soft archery has been designed to introduce young children to archery in a fun and safe way. It is a version of archery that uses child-friendly equipment and we use simple ideas for activities and competitions that can be used in schools, groups, parties, PE lessons, school fairs and as part of events. The equipment and resources provided make it possible for our instructors to deliver archery in almost any setting.

We introduce archery concepts and skills through fun activities rather than technical instruction and use it to encourage learning in other areas; for example, maths through scoring, literacy through language, and citizenship through cooperation and self-discipline.

It’s a great way to get kids involved with archery as well as providing a fun activity that enhances eye-hand coordination, increases upper body strength, and helps to develop focus, self-esteem and self-discipline. Our soft archery events are safe and fun for everyone! We can run soft archery parties or as a mobile event anywhere.

Where is a suitable location?

We can provide axe throwing (as well as archery) at your own venue i.e. school etc. or wherever there is a suitable indoor or outdoor space for archery.

Axe throwing is only suitable for outdoor grassed areas/Woodland areas NOT indoor locations.

We are mobile and have a range of venues we can access and maybe near your location. We can arrange a venue at its hire cost – depending on where they are usually reasonably priced.

Outdoor Space Requirements: Approximately 30mx60m with a safe drop zone behind the catch net.

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

Our archery and axe throwing activity sessions run in all weathers (the only weather that may put a stop to sessions are lightening and extremely high wind).

To have a positive experience, children need to be dressed appropriately, so old, inexpensive clothes are most suitable.

These guidelines should help:

  • Waterproof Jacket & Trousers
  • All-in-one waterproofs are very useful, especially for younger children.
  • Layers – more in winter (2 isn’t enough!)
  • Long trousers (to avoid stinging nettles and scratching hazards)
  • Wellies/other waterproof boots/strong shoes/trainers suitable for all seasons.
  • Woolly hat, gloves & scarf
  • Sun hat (in summer/sunny weather)

We have a duty of care for your child and we make every attempt to ensure that they are dressed appropriately (using spare resources where possible). However, we will not be able to take children if they are inadequately dressed.
